Terms and Conditions of use
OSHI contains images created with instruments on the European Space Agency’s Herschel Space Observatory. The images are offered in this gallery in the highest resolution available.
The European Space Agency (ESA) material available from these pages has been publicly released and may be used for educational or informational purposes, on the following conditions:
- ESA is credited as the source of the material. Please include other additional credit information that is posted together with the material, for example: ESA and the SPIRE & PACS consortia
- The images may not be used to state or imply the endorsement by ESA or any ESA employee of a commercial product, process or service, or used in any other manner that might mislead.
- If an image includes an identifiable person, using that image for commercial purposes may infringe that person's right of privacy, and separate permission should be obtained from the individual.
- We request that you inform us (via the contact link) about the material you wish to use and briefly describe how it will be used.
If these images are to be used in advertising or any commercial promotion, layout and copy must be submitted to ESA beforehand for approval to:
Observing time on Herschel is a premium and for this reason the time is awarded only to the best proposals. All of the observing time for the nominal three year mission lifetime has been awarded in the form of Key Programmes, large projects which are devised to address the most important questions in infrared astronomy.
